    A Church is Born

One City Church began as New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church, a faithful presence planted in Hampton Roads with a simple, powerful conviction: help people encounter Jesus and live in the fullness of the Spirit. What started with a small gathering of believers became a foundation God would build on for generations.

A New Name for a Growing Mission

As the church expanded, the name shifted to New Life Center, reflecting a renewed emphasis on outreach, community, and discipleship. Across the decades, the church continued to serve families, raise leaders, and strengthen its role in the local community.

    Becoming One City Church

In 2010, the church embraced a new identity and mission under the name One City Church, inspired by Zechariah 8:20–21: “I myself am going.” This scripture planted a vision for city transformation—a church not defined by a building but by a people sent into their community with purpose and passion.

A Renewed Mandate Under Pastor Jared & Danielle

In 2021, Pastor Jared and Danielle Fabac stepped into leadership with a clear calling: disciple leaders who bring Jesus into the most influential spaces of our region. The church entered a season of rapid growth—from 70 people to more than 1,100 in just three years—fueled by a commitment to spiritual formation, emotional health, and biblical leadership development. A movement was awakening.

In Spring 2025, One City Church moved into its new 20,000 sq ft home at 515 Innovation Drive, a space intentionally designed for worship, leadership development, and community impact. This facility represents far more than a physical expansion—it is a launchpad for the next generation of leaders who will carry Jesus into homes, workplaces, neighborhoods, and every corner of Hampton Roads.

    What We Believe

The Bible is God’s completely true story about who He is, what He has done, what He is doing, and what He will do. It was given by God to human writers and reflects their backgrounds, styles, and use of language. The Bible is the final authority on all matters to which it speaks.

Jesus Christ, God’s Son, became fully human when He was born to the Virgin Mary. He was fully human and fully God. He lived a perfect life in place of our imperfect lives. He died, as our substitute, the death we deserved to die because of our selfishness. He physically rose from the dead and offers us full life by the promise of His own resurrection. Jesus ascended into heaven and today is our representative, intercessor, and advocate with God the Father.

We are connected to God in only one way − by choosing to accept the forgiveness and reconciliation offered to us by Christ’s life, death, and resurrection. If we ask Him to, God treats us as if we were Christ because He treated Christ as if He were us. God’s gift of grace makes us His adopted sons and daughters. There is nothing we can do to deserve this life − it is all a gift of God and our job is simply to receive it. When we do, God begins the process of changing our hearts and minds from the inside-out and making our character more and more like Jesus’. And as we are reconciled to God, we also have hope of being more fully reconciled to other people.

There is one God, who exists as three persons living in perfect community − Father, Son, and Spirit. God created everything and sustains everything by His life. He is holy, all-powerful, all-knowing, unchanging, and full of mercy and grace.

We experience the full life and presence of God through the Spirit, who convicts us of sin, points us to Christ, and applies Christ’s work to our lives. He gives gifts and power to the church, and He is the one who creates Biblical community in the church. He reveals truth and guides our lives, individually and corporately.

In His own time and in His own way, God will bring the world to an end. According to His promise, Christ will return personally and visibly to judge the living and the dead. This will begin a new era of God’s universally visible reign which will last forever.

If we are in relationship with Christ, we are part of the church. The church is universal but is always expressed locally. The church is the visible and local demonstration of the new community Christ came to create. The Spirit leads our community life as we are devoted to worshiping God, understanding and applying the Bible to our lives, offering connection to others, living life together, serving our community, and using our Spirit-given gifts to serve Christ and others. The church is made up of imperfect people who are responding day-by-day to God’s stunning grace. The main responsibility of the church is to connect with people who are outside of a relationship with Christ. The church then helps those who respond to become whole-hearted Christ-followers.

    Our Written Doctrines

One City Church embraces the following statements concerning the truth. The Bible is our all-sufficient rule for faith and practice. This Statement of Fundamental Truths is intended simply as a basis of fellowship among us (i.e., that we all speak the same thing; 1 Corinthians 1:10; Acts 2:42). No claim is made that it contains all biblical truth, only that it covers our need as to these fundamental doctrines. We do not presume to say the phraseology employed in this Statement of Fundamental Truths is inspired or that it is the final work on Bible truth. However, we are persuaded it is proper and consistent with the Holy Scriptures to “set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us” (Luke 1:1).

God created angels to be His servants. Satan is a fallen angel who rebelled against God. He and his demons will be eternally punished in the lake of fire. (Matthew 25:41; Revelation 20:10)

The Body of Christ, God’s chosen instrument for His mission. (Ephesians 1:22–23)

We believe in three baptisms: (1) By the Spirit into the Body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:13), (2) In water by immersion for believers (Matthew 28:19–20), and (3) In the Holy Spirit for empowerment (Acts 1:5–6).

God provides prosperity—spiritually, mentally, physically, financially, and socially.

We believe that human life begins at conception and that the unborn child in a mother’s womb is a living human being. Abortion constitutes the unjustified, unexcused taking of unborn human life.
