Week 4 – Check Your Math

 

Introduction

  • Welcome to Palm Sunday and the last week of our Influencers series.
  • Recap of the series so far, focusing on the concept of discipleship and what it means to truly follow Jesus.
  • Move the focus of to the true meaning of our influence as disciples of Jesus, and our responsibility to share it.

1. Multiply Your Following (Matthew 28:18-20)

  • Introduce the Great Commission as a mandate for all disciples to multiply themselves through discipleship.
  • Encourage people to help other reflect on the teachings of Jesus in their day to day lives and to guide others to do the same.
  • Reinforce the importance of Baptism as a sign of obedience and commitment to follow Jesus wholeheartedly. (BAPTISM SIGN UPS)
  • (18) Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. (19) Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, (20) and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. 2. Multiply Your Hope (John 16:33)

  • There is an opposition to the mission of God and the importance of sharing the hope we found in Jesus with the world.
  • Establishing the importance of the Church in reenergizing our faith and spreading it beyond the church walls.
  • Reminding us that we have been given a green light by Jesus to share our faith with others, as every disciple must make disciples.

3. Multiply Your Church (Acts 2:47)

  • Stress the importance of not just adding numbers to the church, but empowering individuals to walk out their faith.
  • Show how the church is a tool for teaching and reproducing faith, leading to world-changing influence.
  • Express the importance of next week’s Easter Sunday service as an opportunity to invite others into the family of Jesus.

Bring it Home

  • Reflect on the significance of Palm Sunday, the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, and the journey to the cross that followed.
  • Share the symbolic significance of the donkey, the palm branch, and the rock in the story.
  • COMMUNION TRANSITION
  • Take the COMMISSION SERIOUSLY and invite 2 people to Easter.
